History – Metrics Works Effingham (MWE) is a 14-year-old machine shop located in an industrious agriculture area between Indianapolis and St Louis. The company was started by two entrepreneurs who continue to be involved in the business.

The company was built close to their customers in the area, including Waupaca, Hitachi, Spartan, Aisin USA, Mattoon Machine, and Agriculture OEMs, including Agco. MWE serves as a complementary machine shop to their customers and often shares machines, tooling, fixtures, and labor to keep their final OEM’s assembly lines running.

MWE ships directly to OEMs, including Toyota, Vinfast, Volkswagen, and Honda, using EDI system. MWE is focused on machining ductile iron and Aluminum castings. Typical applications include Front and Rear Knuckles, Lower Control Arms, Damper Forks, Valve Covers, Brake Calipers, Engine Brackets.

The factory has state-of-the-art Vertical, Horizontal, Dual head, and other variations of CNC Milling machines. Most of the machines are Okuma or DMG Mori-Seiki. It also has a few Haas and Makino for special operations.

The factory uses various software solutions to realize its goal of Smart Factory. It uses the latest CAD/CAM software, including MasterCam, SolidWorks, ACAD, and others. The factory also uses SAP B-1, Managers Plus, SensrTrx, LISA WMS, EDI to satisfy its demanding customers and internal productivity goals.
